New England Journal of Medicine: 9-year-old Connecticut boy gets a tick removed from his right eardrum. One of the boy’s doctors said that the tick was no longer alive when they found it, but that did not make it easy to remove because its mouthparts were reportedly buried in the outer surface of the eardrum membrane.
