Boracay police ban sandcastles at popular tourist beaches, threaten builders with jail time
Police are going to extreme lengths to ensure that Boracay, one of the most picturesque islands of the Philippines, doesn't fall back into disarray. Regularly referred to as one of the best in the world, Boracay was closed for six months so hotel providers could fix their sewage and waste problems. Police have also cracked down on the iconic Boracay sandcastles made by kids to earn money from tourists, but if caught, builders could face jail time.
